Art Marian de Groot-Koop

Marian lives in the city of Leiden since 1985.
She studied at the academy of free art in Amsterdam where she lived for 10 years. When she moved to Leiden she took lessons abstract art for advanced artists at the painters society 'Ars Aemula Naturae' from Joke Elzinga and did a preparatory year at the Royal Academy of the Arts in The Hague.

She did a course art history by Drs. Vincent Botella at the Free Academy in The Hague where she is a participant since march 2004 .

Her supervisors at the academy have been; Nic Blans jr., Phil van de Klundert,  Zhuang Hong Yi,  Mark van Overeem, Jan Maarten Voskuil, Mark de weijer and Henk Hubenet.

Marian participated  in master classes of  Zhuang Hong Yi; a course 'Ideals and practice' with Alied Ottevanger; a course 'perspective drawing' with Peter Otto and participates in the painters class 'painting according an analytical method' with Henk Hubenet.

She likes to work with different materials. Sometimes a small object can be an inspiration for a statue, drawing or painting. She paints still-lifes and landscapes.

The abstract paintings have a strong impact by the special combination of different materials and in the way she's handling these materials. Her work is clearly influenced by the Chinese artist Zhuang Hong Yi who has combined his knowledge from the traditional Eastern School  with Western modern art styles.

Marian creates a mystical world that wants the viewer to unravel the mystery.
